Wanda Koop (b. 1951, Vancouver, Canada) is one of Canada's most accomplished painters. She has had solo exhibitions at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montréal, Canada; the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX; the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada; Night Gallery, Los Angeles, CA, and elsewhere. Her work belongs in the collections of the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada; Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Buffalo, NY; Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX; Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, Montréal, Canada; the Shanghai Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai, China; and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Winnipeg, Canada, among others. Koop is the recipient of numerous awards, honorary doctorates, and Canadian medals of honor, including the Order of Canada, the nation's highest civilian honor, in 2006. In 1998, she founded Art City, a storefront art centre that brings together contemporary visual artists and inner-city youth to explore the creative process. Koop lives and works in Winnipeg, Canada.
